Software we build on
FiveMinFree uses established open-source software where it provides a strong foundation for useful, reliable tools.
PDF tools
The PDF Editor uses Mozilla PDF.js to render PDF pages in the browser and pdf-lib to create and modify exported PDFs. PDF.js is available under the Apache License 2.0 and pdf-lib under the MIT License.
Media and file processing
Server-side tools may use established open-source software including FFmpeg, ImageMagick and LibreOffice for media, image and document processing. Individual projects retain their own licences and copyrights.
Privacy-minded processing
Open-source components do not automatically mean a file is uploaded. Several FiveMinFree tools use browser-side libraries so the work can stay on your device when practical.
